Ruto reassigns Health PS in new reshuffles

President William Ruto has reassigned seven Principal Secretaries (PS) from various ministries in his Cabinet.

In a statement to newsrooms on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, Ruto says the new PSs will assume office with immediate effect.

Those re-assigned duties include Jonathan Mueke who was transferred from the Sports Ministry to the Ministry of Agriculture to serve as PS Livestock.

In the Ministry of Health, Ruto re-assigned Harry Kimtai as PS Medical Services, from the Ministry of Agriculture.

Consequently, Peter Kiplagat Tum was reassigned from the Ministry of Health to the Ministry of Sports.

Marry Muthoni Muriuki will serve as PS Public Health & Professional Standards at the Ministry of Health following her transfer from the Interior, where she headed the Correctional Services.

Esther Ngero moved to Interior as PS Correctional Services from the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary, where she was PS Performance Management. 

To facilitate the transition of the vacancy within the ranks of the principal secretaries, the president appointed Faith Njeri as the Performance Management PS at the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary. 

In the Ministry of Agriculture, Ruto reassigned former Forestry PS Ephantus Kimani as Water PS in the Ministry of Irrigation.

Ruto appointed Gitonga Mugambi as PS Forestry from Water, where he previously served PS Irrigation.
