President William Ruto has offered an internship opportunity to a student who expressed her desire to work at the State House.

Speaking during the centenary celebrations of TVET in Kenya, Nyeri National Polytechnic on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, President Ruto responded to the student's request with encouragement and a promise of evaluation based on her performance after her internship.

"It would be my pleasure if you'd recognize me so I can work in State House," the student identified as Mwende requested.

"Mwende, what I will do is I would want to see your performance. You will have to be good. So what we will do, is you will start as an intern so we can assess your performance. And coming from Nyeri Polytechnic, I am confident you will do well," Ruto declared.

Ruto, job promises

In November 2023, President Ruto pledged to tackle Kenya's high unemployment rates by facilitating 3,000 to 5,000 job opportunities abroad every week for the country's youth.

This initiative, he emphasized, not only aims to provide livelihoods for unemployed Kenyans but also to boost the nation's struggling economy.

President Ruto disclosed plans to establish bilateral labour agreements, in collaboration with Labour CS Florence Bore, to facilitate the export of Kenyan labour.

He highlighted ongoing negotiations with several countries, including Saudi Arabia, Germany, and France, to expand employment opportunities for Kenyan citizens overseas.

During his visit, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz pledged to provide 200,000 job opportunities for Kenyans.

Ruto expressed determination to finalize this agreement, emphasizing the importance of securing these opportunities for the benefit of Kenyan citizens.

Kenyan comedian turned activist Eric Omondi on Monday, March 25, promised unemployed youths job opportunities.

Taking to his Instagram page, Omondi urged all youths facing unemployment to attend a meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 26, at 8:30 am at the Blue Springs Hotel, located on Thika Road opposite Gardens City.

We are going to provide employment and job opportunities to all our brothers and sisters. We have already acquired numerous jobs from Kenyans of goodwill," he captioned the video.
