Tourism Cabinet Secretary has announced that Ronald Ngala Utalii College will open in 2024.

In a statement, Mutua, who visited the college under construction in Kilifi County, said the government will complete a few classes first with the available funds to end the 16-year wait.

"Because even secondary schools and many colleges start small as few classrooms expand with time, I changed the ongoing process to ensure that key buildings are completed first, based on available funds, so that the college can open its doors by early to mid next year," Mutua stated.

The CS expressed disappointment in the delay in completing the construction of the college, which is expected to graduate at least 3,000 students every year.

"Yesterday I visited the construction site of Ronald Ngala Utalii College in Kilifi. It is disappointing that the concept and works have gone on for 16 years as deserving students wait and the days go by," he added.

Mutua said the administration buildings, social hall, student class blocks, dining hall and one or two student accommodation blocks will be completed first so that learning begins immediately.

"We agreed that the administration buildings, social hall, student class blocks, dining hall and one or two student accommodation blocks can be completed chap chap so that students can be admitted.," he added.

In December 2022, the Tourism Fund claimed the construction of the college was 77.74 per cent complete.
