Controversial gospel artiste Alex Apoko alias Ringtone appeared to cry in court on Thursday as he testified during the hearing of a case involving popular blogger Robert Alai.

The blogger is charged on two accounts of causing grievous harm to him and malicious damage to property. He is said to have damaged Ringtone's windscreen, valued at Ksh416,000.

During the session in Kibera Law Courts, the singer was overcome with emotions as he recounted the ordeal on July 23 last year after the duo's altercation along Cotton Road in Kilimani.

"Hakunigonga akiwa amenyamaza your honour, alinigonga on the right side of my neck akisema 'Ringtone nitakuua'," the singer said in parts of his testimony.

The case had been adjourned in May after Alai's lawyer failed to appear in court.

At the time, he denied both the charges and was released on a Ksh1 million bond or a cash bail of Ksh300,000.

Also, the court warned Alai against speaking about the pending case online either directly or through proxies.
