The National Police Service has refuted claims that the sacked Commissioner-General of Kenya Prisons Services, Wycliffe Ogallo, has been arrested.

The Service clarified that its officers only facilitated a smooth and seamless handover of office by escorting the General home.

"The reporting appearing in mainstream and social media that the former Kenya Prisons Service’s Commissioner General Mr. Wycliffe Ogallo has been arrested by police is not accurate as stated.

This is to clarify that police only facilitated a smooth and seamless handover of office and escorted the former Commissioner General to his home," a statement by the Service read.

Reports of the arrest of the ex-Commissioner General rocked social media immediately after his dismissal by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The ex-Prisons boss Wycliffe Ogallo has been replaced by Brigadier(Rtd) John Kibaso Warioba.

The change of guard comes in the backdrop of the escape of three terror convicts from the Kamiti maximum prison.
