Police nab 30 litres of illicit brew in Nandi Hills, arrest 2 suspects

Two suspects operating illicit brew businesses have been arrested in Nandi Hills sub-county, Nandi County, police have confirmed.

The two women aged 36 and 45 were caught with the suspected deadly liquor at the Kipsamo location in the Nandi Hills ward.

The police officers under the command of Nandi East police commander Francis Omulo and OCS Nandi Hills police station with other security agents led the operation which led to the arrest of the two suspects drawn from the said location, and they are now cooling their hills at the Nandi Hills police custody.

"Today at 3:25 pm, an officer from Nandi Hills Station accompanied by the area chief conducted an operation and nabbed 30 litres of illicit brews. These are 15 litres of chang'aa and 15 litres of Kangara with manufacturing apparatus," Omulo said.

The police commander said the suspects arrested will be arraigned at the Kapsabet Law Courts tomorrow.

"The war against illicit brews is a government directive and we are not going to relent. The traders of these illegal businesses must stop and direct their energy to other meaningful income," the police boss added.

Residents have been urged to be vigilant and cooperate with the police to ensure that the fight against illicit liquor is achieved.

"These are dangerous illicit liquor, we have seen even Kenyans losing lives in other counties and we don't want such to happen in our sub-county, we will firmly deal with such illegal businesses by all means," Omulo stated.
