Police have launched a manhunt for a gang of three men who robbed a lady of Ksh490,000 on September 9, 2022, after she withdrew the cash from the bank.

The victim identified as Ann Mwangi, a business lady who buys pigs from farmers and sells them to Farmer's Choice, had withdrawn the cash at KCB bank in Thika before boarding a matatu back to Murang'a to pay her customers.

After alighting from the matatu, the victim went directly to the first customer's homestead to make payment when she was accosted at the gate by three men on a motorbike.

The gang grabbed the woman's handbag containing the cash and she fought them off prompting them to shoot in the air to scare her.

"After withdrawing Kdh490,000 deposited to her KCB bank account by Farmer's Choice in Thika, Ann boarded a matatu back to Murang'a. She alighted from the matatu and headed to the first customer's place to make the payment," the police report read in part.

"Before she opened the gate, she was intercepted by three men on a motorbike who shot in the air to scare her before speeding to an unknown destination," the report added.

Elsewhere in a separate incident, police in Mukuruweini, Nyeri County launched a manhunt for a gang of six after they attacked a couple in their compound before robbing them of Ksh150,000 in cash and a mobile phone worth Ksh12000.

The two victims, Francis Kamundia and his wife Maclean Wanjiku, had just arrived at their compound on the vehicle and she had remained back to close the gate when the gang of six unarmed with crude weapons forced themselves in.

The gang attacked the couple and robbed them of two handbags containing the cash and the phone.

Kamundia sustained injuries on his face, left foot and on his ribs.

He was rushed to Mukuruweini sub-county hospital for medication as police continued with investigations.
