Former President Daniel arap Moi's daughter June Moi has been laid to rest at the family farm in Bahati, Nakuru County.

June, who was the adopted daughter of the second President Daniel Arap Moi, died on Thursday, April 11, 2024, aged 60.

In a statement on X, Gideon Moi said June had left a deep hole in their hearts as a family, that can never be filled.

"Today is our sister's final journey in this world. June has left a deep hole in our hearts that can never be filled. But with faith, we know that we shall meet that beautiful morning when Christ our Lord returns. May our sister's soul now rest," Gideon said.

Speaking during the funeral service in Kabarak June's daughter Paula Susanne Jepkemboi said her mother taught her love, patience, endurance and how to pray.

"My mother was an inspiring soul, always there for those who came to her with their troubles. Her home was open to everyone and her hospitality made everyone feel important. All my friends love my mum almost as much as I do. She became Aunty June to all of them and never failed to make them laugh or feel at home," Jepkemboi said.

"She was the most humble, loving, compassionate, understanding family-oriented woman who was one of the most beautiful souls you could ever meet. She taught me love, patience, and endurance and she taught me how to pray and lead by example. She praised me whenever I did good and pointed out my mistakes with a gentle voice."

Speaking during the funeral service, Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka termed June as a cheerful and charming President's daughter who made them feel comfortable.

"June was a cheerful and charming President's daughter who made us feel comfortable. She was honourable and a lovely soul. On behalf of my family and the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition, accept our deepest sympathies. In her honour let us stand strong for her daughter Paula Susanne Jepkemboi," Kalonzo said.

"Let us also commit to leaving this country better than how we found it. We cannot afford to play around with the hard-fought democratic gains."
