There was panic outside Ebony House in Nairobi's Central Business District on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, after a member of the public bumped into a suspected explosive device.

The device was spotted near the building located on Taveta Lane, Off Tom Mboya Street by a passerby.

Police cordoned off the area to avoid a tragedy.

Alshabaab threat

Authorities said in January this year that they were on a high alert over a possible Al-Shabaab attack in the country.

The National Police Service (NPS) said security had been beefed up across the country after several Western embassies warned their nationals of the danger of an attack in Nairobi.

French and German embassies in Nairobi asked their nationals to avoid social places where foreigners gather, such as hotels and shopping centers to be safe.
