Migori Woman Representative Pamela Odhiambo has come out to defend Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i for attending an ODM rally in Nyamira last month.

Speaking in an interview with a local TV station, Dr Pamela said that Matiang’i accompanied Raila Odinga to Nyamira in support of the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and the ODM leader.

According to the lawmaker, Matiang’i was showing support to the handshake that has since brought peace to the country hence easing his work as the Cabinet Secretary for Interior Security.

Dr Pamela made the statement while defending the CS from critics who are calling for his resignation after he purportedly declared his support for Raila.

“I don’t there is anywhere Matiang’i and other CSs who were in Nyamira said that they will support Raila. They only applauded and supported the handshake between him and the president which has brought peace to the country.

“I think it’s a good thing to support anything that would make your work easier. There is peace in the country since people are not fighting, therefore, Matiang’i has almost achieved his work,” she said.

She noted that the Matiang’i was only ensuring that the law and the handshake are upheld.

Dr Pamela also maintained that Matiang’i was part of the current government, therefore, he should support President Uhuru’s initiatives.

“These ministers are appointed by the president whom they are supporting and the initiative of peace, it’s the president’s initiative,” she said,
