The government has kicked off its second annual National Executive retreat, which will take place from February 18 to 21, 2024 in Nakuru County.

According to a statement from Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura, there will be a Kenya Kwanza Parliamentary Group meeting on Monday, February 19, which will report on the progress of the second session of the 13th Parliament, with a view of setting the agenda for the third session.

On February 20 and 21, cabinet secretaries, principal secretaries and other senior government officials will review the performance of the current administration.

"The retreat will also give the government, an opportunity to evaluate the achievements made over the last 17 months with an aim of consolidating the gains made, in order to create synergy for the execution of programs and activities in the 2024 calendar year," Mwaura stated.

"In particular, the government shall be reviewing the GOK Lab Report, based on the 15 key parameters, that were deployed to assess government performance across the 23 ministries, 51 state departments and 348 Semi-Autonomous Government Agencies (SAGAs)."

Mwaura also commended the recently conducted Government Road Show, terming it a highly consultative process.

"The Government Road Show (GRS) was the first of its kind in recent history. It commenced on 9th January 2023 at the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection and was concluded on 12th February 2024, at the Executive Office of the President. This initiative was a highly consultative process that involved CSs, PSs, CEOs of State Corporations, representatives from Constitutional Commissions and Independent Offices (CCIOs) and other senior government officials," he said.

Mwaura says the GRS was conducted through more than 30 town hall meetings that were attended by over 4,600 participants.

"The aim of this process was to assess the alignment of the  Bottom-Up Economic Transformational Agenda (BETA) Plan and the Medium Term Plan (MTPIV) under the Kenya Vision 2030 with other ongoing government processes, for effective planning and execution using the Whole of Government Approach (WOGA). The government is keen to achieve measurable results that benefit the hustlers, by lifting them up from the bottom of the economic pyramid," he added.

Achievements to be reviewed in the retreat

He says that over the last 17 months, the government has documented more than 105 achievements of the 122 commitments that are enshrined in the BETA plan.

According to Mwaura, the total number of achievements under this administration, that have been documented so far are 232.

"The great strides that the government has made, speak to our common sense of purpose, in making Kenya a true middle-income economy. As Kenyans, we are joined collectively in the present through our shared values and ideals; and we must continue to work together towards a prosperous future, in the spirit of nationhood and patriotism," he added.
