Police in Karen, Nairobi are investigating an incident in which a youthful woman smashed the windscreen of a taxi driver’s vehicle following a dispute over fare payment.

Brown Mwangi, a driver who is registered under the taxi hailing app Bolt, said he had transported the woman to Karen from another city location on Wednesday night, and upon arriving at the passenger’s destination, she refused to pay Ksh320 fare, saying her boyfriend would send Mwangi the money via M-Pesa.

In a report filed by Mwangi at Hardy Police Station in Karen, the woman entered into her compound after refusing to pay the fare.

“She left me outside the gate,” said Mwangi in his police report filed under the OB Number 28/25/11/2020.

Mwangi said he refused to leave the woman’s gate until he received his pay.

While he was waiting outside the suspect’s homestead, she allegedly returned with a gun and smashed the windscreen of Mwangi’s car.

“She, thereafter, ordered me to leave her house, saying her father was a top lawyer in Nairobi,” said Mwangi.

The aggrieved driver said Hardy Police Station OCS, Ibrahim Towet, asked him to report back to the station on Thursday, November 26 for further guidance on the matter.
