A family in Nairobi is in distress after the mysterious disappearance of their 9-year-old autistic son who was last seen in November 2022.

The boy, Duncan Sessi, is said to have disappeared from his parent's Kahawa West home as he was playing with other children and an older sibling on November 3, 2022,

Sessi's mother, Irene Nyongesa, says that on the day her child disappeared, she had left the young boy in the company of her two other children as she left for work.

"Niliingia kwa nyumba nikakuja nikaambia brother yake acha niende nipike nikamwambia amwite ndugu yake akuje akule; Kukaa sana ikabidi nitoke niende nikamtafute nikaangalie nini inaendelea huko nje,

"Nilikutana na ndugu yake akirudi akiwa na wenzake akasema hmwoni ndo wanaendelea kumtafuta," she stated.

Nyongesa further recounted that she was informed that her boy who is unable to respond when spoken to was last spotted at a school gate,

The boy's father on the other hand recalled filing a missing person's report after efforts to search for their son went futile. At the time, police assured them that they would inform them if the boy was found.

His father has further pleaded with the boy's abductors to return him to his family or surrender him to a nearby police station.

Missing minor found

Elsewhere in Nairobi, a 12-year-old girl who had gone missing was surrendered to the police two weeks after her disappearance.

The minor's relatives stated that they found their kin surrendered at the police station by a woman who claimed that he had found the child stranded.

The woman currently in police custody explained that she surrendered the child after the report was aired on local tv stations.

“The lady that found her said she found her roaming in town and went home with her. So when she saw the story on TV, that’s when she decided to come and hand her over to the police. That’s where we found Akolde. We’re very happy that we found her safe and sound," a relative stated.

Despite being elated over the return of their loved one, the family wondered why the aforementioned woman failed to report the matter to the police after she found her stranded.

The woman is currently under investigation together with her other suspected accomplice who is also in police custody.
