Meru governor Kawira Mwangaza has dared detectives to produce the purported evidence they gathered from her residence regarding the death of Sniper to the public or else she move to court

Accompanied by her husband Murega Baichu and other family members at her residence, the county boss blamed the detectives for carrying out a one-sided investigation accusing them of being politically influenced by a section of senior politicians in Meru.

“They were here and declared this place a crime scene, they took all the CCTV accessories and cameras and mobile phone from my son and all the workers including the cleaner. They also took the data from my phone, I dare them to produce the findings or I move to court because they have severely damaged my family's reputation. What I need is justice," Kawira stated.

"You want to tell me I am that stupid to call someone knowing that I was going to kill him, I have been silent even when politicians went around spreading rumours that I was involved in the blogger's murder, they have called me all sorts of names now I want justice," she added.

Kawira further said she would not keep her mouth shut when her name was been dragged into the murder of the blogger.

She also claimed that her brother was fixed into the blogger's death by her political nemesis intending to soil her name and family's reputation assuring members of the public that it's only a matter of time before her brother walks free.

"Unfortunately, they have caused us a lot of pain and emotional damage when they know the killers they have been moving up and down with Subaru’s. Instead of arresting the killers, they have been acting on political influence," the county head lamented.

The governor, however, pointed fingers at her deputy, Mutuma Ntointhikia, whom she accused of being in constant communication with the deceased on the day he went missing.

'We have information that my deputy was in communication with Sniper and even sent him money via Mpesa on the day he went missing, why are detectives not investigating him?"Kawira posed.

She also accused Agriculture Cabinet Secretary (CS) Mithika Linturi, County Assembly Speaker Ayub Bundi and a section of region Members of Parliament (MPs) of using the death of Sniper to fight her politically.

"My hands are clean even God knows. I gave detectives access to my bedroom to get all the information they wanted but what did they find? ....The masterminds of the murder and financiers are the same politicians going round the county with the body inciting residents," she added.

Backed by her husband, the governor alleged that her opponents schemed the blogger's murder to bring her down since the first and second impeachments failed.

“I am telling Linturi I am not a coward and I don’t fear him so he should stop fighting me through back doors. I dare him to come out and meet me face to face there is no need to finance the MCAs to bring me down. I am telling him in 2027 I will sweep him early in the morning,” the county governor added.

To protect her integrity, Kawira reiterated that she will move to court and will ensure those who tainted her name pay dearly.

“It is my time now to fight back there is no way you give one side license to go around inciting the Meru community against me and the law is not applied to them but when I hold an okolea rally it is banned I wonder which law is this that apply on one party,” she added.

On Sunday governor’s husband, her son and sister Miriam Guantai recorded statements with the detectives as investigations of Sniper's murder continue.

Speaking to the media Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) Eastern region coordinator Lenny Kisaka said the two family members recorded their statements at Meru DCI offices.

Sniper disappeared on December 2, 2023, before his body was discovered dumped at River Mutonga in Tharaka Nithi county on December 16, 2023.
