Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Cabinet Secretary(CS) Alfred Mutua has launched a new government platform dubbed Kazi Majuu, which will have job opportunities abroad for Kenyans.

Speaking during the launch on Friday, June 30, 2023, Mutua warned Kenyans not to trust agents not listed on the platform to link them up with jobs abroad.

He added that the platform has various agents from both Kenya and all parts of the world.

"Kenyans can go online and look for job opportunities all over the world. We will be posting a lot of opportunities from different countries.

"You go in there and you will find a section where you will put in your details to agents who are recruiting people from different parts of the world or even from this country," Mutua said.

Mutua also said that after logging in to the platform, Kenyans would get a direct link to the employers even without necessarily having to go through an agent.

Diaspora jobs

This comes after reports that several Kenyans have been stuck and some killed in foreign countries, with most of them coming from Arabic countries.

The situation has left many families in despair and sadness, following the loss of their kin, with some having to take care of those who come back incapacitated.

Most of them have complained that once they get to foreign countries, the agents who allegedly take them there, fail to pick up their calls when things fall apart.

Kazi Majuu

Following such stories which have most often hit headlines, the Foreign Affairs CS has now resulted in the regulation of the agents through the newly launched Kazi Majuu online platform.

CS Mutua told Kenyans to explore the program, view the job opportunities that the government will place there and only use the agents listed on the platform.

He also added that the platform will also track the lives of those Kenyans who will be successful in getting jobs outside the country, to ensure their welfare is in check.

"It will also be able to track the remittances and how your life is continuing overseas," Mutua said.

According to the CS, the Kazi Majuu platform will also be able to conduct a skillset assessment, to match the candidates with the jobs that match their qualifications.

In attendance was a Kenyan man whom the CS said was going to apply for a job through the platform as he intends to leave in a month to begin a new opportunity overseas.

"We've got a champion, Judy Chepchirchir who has been able to send over 10,000 people overseas and we've got a young man called Zabron who today wants to apply and look for a job immediately and get posted so that he can leave the country in a month and go look for opportunities overseas," Mutua announced.

Also in attendance was the Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection Florence Bore.

The platform is now left to the test of time, to assess whether it will get rid of unscrupulous agents.
