Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has announced that he is willing to sponsor Victor Obama, a 13-year-old boy who is staring at the prospect of missing out on his Form One admission at Maranda High School due to lack of fees.

Salasya while responding to a local report, stated that he was willing to see the student through his admission.

"As the incoming governor, I am willing to help the boy, please connect me just incase hajapata sponsor," Salasya wrote on his official Facebook page.

The boy who scored 412 marks in the recently released Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations shared his plight in a placard in a photo that has since gone viral.

In the placard, the young boy detailed that he secured a slot in Maranda High School, Kamusinga boys' schools, however, he wouldn't be able to enrol at either of the schools due to a lack of funds.

He explained that his ailing mother was unable to raise the school fees at either of the schools. The minor also revealed that efforts to secure scholarships have hit the wall.

"I am an orphan who is desperate. My mother is very sick and helpless. I was called to Maranda High School and I have also secured a chance in Kamusinga Boys," the placard reads in parts.

"I wish to proceed with my education to a higher level so that I can achieve my academic dreams and support my weak mother. I tried some scholarships but I was not considered."

Victor is said to have scored straight As in four subjects out of the total of five he sat for.

According to his aunt, Sarah Kausi, a section of well-wishers have only promised to help the minor but so far none has acted on their promises.

Well-wishers can reach the boy through his aunt Sarah Kausi on 0725557572.
