Motorists risk Ksh30K fine for parking on road edges

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued a warning to motorists of heavy fines for committing traffic offences on highways.

In a public notice, the agency responsible for the development, rehabilitation, management and maintenance of all National Trunk Roads says drivers are not allowed to park vehicles on the roadside.

The statutory body further says passengers should only be picked up and dropped off at the designated areas along the highway.

"Motorists are encouraged to utilize designated parking lots when parking their vehicles along the highways, parking on the road shoulders or otherwise, will attract a fine of Ksh30,000," part of the notice read.

Adding;

"Motorists are also encouraged to utilize provided bus stops along the highways for picking, dropping passengers otherwise will attract a fine of Ksh 30,000."
