Dagoretti: Mob lynches man accused of threatening to kill his family members

A 42-year-old man succumbed to his injuries after he was beaten up by a mob when he tried to set his house on fire and kill his family after he quarreled with his wife in Githamba, Dagoretti North, Nairobi.

According to a police report, the deceased identified as Boniface Mwenzi had a domestic quarrel with his wife and was about to set his house ablaze and kill the kids when the neighbours and members of the public subjected him to mob justice.

"The previous day, Saturday, September 24, 2022, Boniface had a domestic quarrel with his wife and he had wanted to burn their house and kill their children.

"On seeing that, the neighbors and members of the public subjected him to mob justice where they brutally injured him on the head, hands, and face. He was rushed to the nearby clinic where he received first aid but he later succumbed to the injuries," the police report stated.

The wife then took him to a nearby clinic where he received first aid and treatment but later succumbed to his injuries.

The body was moved to the City morgue awaiting an autopsy.

Man dies during a fight

Separately, in a second incident, a middle-aged man died on Sunday, September 25, 2022, after hitting a hard object while fighting with another man for unknown reasons.

In a police report seen by K24 Digital, a fight ensued between the deceased, Mureithi Mumina, and the suspect who was only identified as Macharia.

"A fight ensued between the deceased Mureithi Mumina and Macharia over an unknown issue. During the fight, Macharia pushed the deceased who fell on his back and hit the head on a hard object," the police report read in part.

He was rushed to the lens Dispensary where he was referred to Mama Lucy Hospital but he was pronounced dead at night while receiving treatment.
