Andrew Wanjala has been charged in Eldoret court with offensive conduct after being sued by a married mother of two for sending her explicit messages.

The 41-year-old on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, appeared before Principal Magistrate Caroline Watima where he denied the charges against him.

The court heard that the accused on November 12, 2022, in the Baharini area within Turbo Sub County, he used his mobile phone to send nudities to A.W.

The suspect was arrested after police completed a forensic audit of his phone which he used to send the plaintiff explicit material via WhatsApp.

In his mitigation, Wanjala claimed that he was the mpango wa kando (secret lover) to the married woman and that the explicit messages were love messages that they were sharing in secret as lovers.

“I am wondering why my lover has become rude to me to the extent of bringing me to court yet we were sharing love messages as lovers,” Wanjala told the court.

However, the magistrate told the suspect to wait until the trial to defend himself.

The married denied having a love affair with the accused.

The woman's husband and her daughter are among six witnesses listed by the prosecution in the case.

Wanjala was released on a Ksh50,000 bond.

The case will be mentioned on January 22, 2024.
