Journalist Jacque Maribe has expressed her relief after being acquitted in court of the murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani.

"I don't know if to say anything, I'll just say go read John 8:32; 'For you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free,'" Maribe said after enduring a legal battle spanning over five years,

Addressing the media, Maribe's father, Maribe Mwangi, shared the emotional toll the over 5-year-long trial had taken on their family.

"It has been a torturous journey. We have suffered emotionally and financially, but we thank God it has come to an end," Mwangi expressed.

"We blame the prosecution for maintaining and insisting on this case when it had no basis," Kigen asserted.

Irungu guilty

Jowie was found guilty of the murder of Monica Kimani.

Justice Grace Nzioka delivered the ruling, stating that Monica Kimani's death was not natural or accidental but a result of homicide, as proven by the prosecution.

The court concluded that Jowie knew Monica before her murder, despite his claim otherwise, as they had been classmates at Kenya Polytechnic.

Furthermore, Jowie was found guilty of stealing Dominic Bisera Haron's ID two days before the murder, which he used to access Monica's residence.

Jowie was also identified as the last person seen with Monica before her death. The gun he possessed, which he claimed he accidentally shot himself with, was determined by the court to have been used to subdue Monica before her murder.

Additionally, the court ruled that both Jowie and Maribe provided false statements regarding the shooting incident.

Maribe had initially claimed that Jowie was shot at their gate, which was found to be untrue.
