A 70-year-old man from Kitutu Chache, Kisii county, is in police custody after he allegedly killed his 68-year-old wife over a domestic squabble.
Police arrested Christopher Gisiora after villagers found Alice Kamunde's body lying in a pool of blood on the morning of Thursday, December 29, 2022. The body had deep machete cuts in the neck.
Gisiora is set to be arraigned in court tomorrow, Friday, December 30, 2022.
According to villagers, the couple had unresolved domestic differences that saw them having an on-and-off marriage and frequent fights.
"In fact, the deceased only returned yesterday when the two are said to have been engaged in a scuffle leading to the incident," Douglas Bosire, a resident told a local publication.
The body of the deceased was moved to a nearby morgue pending investigations.

Elsewhere, a family in Nyatike, Kisii county is mourning the death of their 60-year-old kin who allegedly took his own life on the evening of Wednesday, December 28, 2022.
Area assistant chief Vincent Otieno, while confirming the incident, said the body of the senior citizen identified as Othina was found hanging from a tree a few metres from his home.
He noted that the deceased left one of his wives a suicide note with details of where to find his body.
While speaking to a local publication, the deceased's family stated that Othina repeatedly complained of his health condition before the incident.
His body was moved to a nearby morgue pending further investigation by the police.
