A 34-year-old man has been killed by the public and his body burnt beyond recognition at Ivumbu village, Mbooni East in Makueni County.

Charles Musembi Makau is suspected to have killed Susan Nzivulu Willy and her elder sister Wayua Syombua, both aged 7 and 10 years respectively, on Saturday Morning.

According to a neighbour, Festus Kaloki, the suspect worked as a house boy for the family and might have lured the minors into his room where he lived before the heinous act.

The mother of the children, Anne Nduu Kivavu reported her missing daughters at Utuneni Police Post, where police officers swiftly with the help of the public arrested the suspect and forced him to open the room in which he lived.

The police found the two missing minors killed and their bodies kept under the suspect’s bed.

“When the door to the room was opened, we found the two girls dead in what we suspected was death through strangulation after being defiled by the attacker,” one of the neighbours said.

While confirming the incident, Makueni County police boss Joseph Ole Napeiyan said police officers from Utuneni Police Post received information from one Anne Nduu Kivavu about her missing children.

“Upon responding, the officers found the suspect, a houseboy of the complainant arrested by members of the public and was taken to his house, where dead bodies of the minors were found under his bed,” the report read.

The eye witness told K24 Digital that the angry mob forcefully re- arrested the suspect and mercilessly beat him up until he succumbed to death.

Later the irate crowd is said to have burnt the suspect’s body beyond recognition.
