A section of religious, political and security leaders in Chesumei, Nandi County have raised concerns over increasing cases of old men being sodomized at night within different centres.

Speaking during the launch of Chesumei Constituency education initiative, Chesumei Sub-county Deputy County Commissioner Fredrick Ogola raised concerns noting that the reported cases show that the elderly are being sodomized at night by unknown young men.

"Detectives in our sub-county are investigating incidences where old men are alleged to have been sodomized several times by unknown young men while heading home at night," Ogola said.

The DCC said they have received several cases from the Kosirai division in the sub-county and the investigating team was working on it to ensure the culprits of the indecent acts are brought to book.

"Although some of the old men have not reported as they fear the embarrassment and trauma around the issue, others have opened up calling for justice. We will not tolerate such behaviour within our society and in this sub-county. Action will be taken," Ogola warned.

On his part, nominated MP Bishop Jackson Kosgei said it was so saddening to see the young men have become rogue and resorted to ungodly behaviours.

"What are these we are hearing here? Where is our society heading? When did such become part of our traditions?" Kosgei posed.

Adding; "How I wish they could surrender themselves for cleansing. Homosexuality in the Kalenjin community is taken as ungodly. The young men practising such are inviting troubles."
