Lamu West Member of Parliament Stanley Muthama was Monday arraigned before Eldoret Chief Magistrate Charles Obulutsa to answer 13 counts of charges relating to tax evasion.

Muthama, who was charged with others not before court, denied all the charges against his Stansha Limited Company of defrauding Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Ksh487 million between 2013 and 2019.

KRA accused the legislator of failing to remit taxes for his businesses in Kericho, Kajiado and Nakuru counties contrary to the law.

The legislator was arrested on Friday 28.

He has been released on Ksh3 million bond or Ksh500, 000 cash bail.

The case will be mentioned on July 15, 2019.
