Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi continues to cry foul after he was permanently banned from appearing before the Supreme Court.

The Senior Counsel revealed on Tuesday that a Ksh1 billion land fraud case was among petitions affected by the decision of the Apex Court.

According to the outspoken city lawyer, he was scheduled to argue the petition, involving his oldest client Cherubet Chelugui and the late President Daniel Arap Moi's family, today.

The 93-year-old granny had won a Ksh1 billion compensation at the High Court and Court of Appeal before the Moi family lodged an appeal at the Supreme Court.

Due to the ban, Ahmedasir won't be able to continue representing the 93-year-old in the highest court in the land.

The lawyer, however, pleaded with Chief Justice Martha Koome to ensure the matter is concluded in time as the petitioner is sickly and currently admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

"I was supposed to argue this petition before the Supreme Court this morning. Mama Cherubet Chelugui turned 94 and is admitted to ICU…over to you, @CJMarthaKoome. I hope you will hear and determine the case before the health of Mama Chelugui deteriorates further!" Ahmednasir wrote on X.

Ahmednasir first shared details of the plaintiff in May last year when she was airlifted to Nairobi to meet him.

"My oldest client, Mama Cherubet Chelugui (93 years old and strong) who is in a wheelchair, was airlifted from Eldoret to meet me in Nairobi. She won damages for Kshs 1 billion-plus against H.E. Daniel Arap Moi in the High Court and the Court of Appeal," the lawyer stated.

"Moi grabbed her land in the 1980s. We are now in the Supreme against his estate. It's acting for "Davids" like Mama Cherubet that gives purpose to practising law."

The former president is accused of having forcefully taken over a 53-acre land which the family of the late politician Noah Kimngeny Chelungui owned within the Eldoret Municipality in September 1893.

Ahmednasir ban

Ahmednasir was barred from appearing before the Supreme Court last week. He was accused of making distasteful remarks against judges on various media platforms.

The unanimous ban issued by the seven-judge bench of the Apex Court also applies to his law firm including his employees.

“In view of the foregoing, it is the decision of this Court, that henceforth and from the date of this Communication, you shall have no audience before the Court, either by yourself, through an employee of your law firm, or any other person holding brief for you, or acting pursuant to your instructions. Much as this decision is bound to affect those who may have instructed you to represent them before the Court, it is untenable that you would seek justice in the very institution and before the very Judges, whose reputation and integrity you never tire in assaulting,” Supreme Court Registrar L.M Wachira said in a letter to the Senior Counsel.
