Teachers, parents and students at Matinyani Boys Secondary School in Kitui West sub-county in Kitui were on Monday left in disbelief after the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) withheld their 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examinations (KCSE) results.

Last year, the school trounced others in the Eastern region as the best-performed school in KCSE results with a min grade of B+ and a min score of 9.94, beating well-known performing schools like Muthale Girls, St. Charles Lwanga, and Kitui school among others.

However, the 2023 results left teachers, students and parents in a state of disbelief after the results which were to be obtained from the portal for individual students were withheld by KNEC for exam cheating.

This comes amid ongoing investigations by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) after the school principal Nelson Mureithi and his deputy were accused of encouraging examination irregularities among students during the exam period.

The two were summoned for questioning.
