Kenya on Wednesday, November 4 recorded 1,494 COVID-19 infections from 8,839 samples analysed between Tuesday and Wednesday, the Ministry of Health said.

The country’s caseload rose to 58,587 as of November 4.

Out of the 1,494 new infections, 1,453 were Kenyans, whereas 41 were foreigners.

Eight hundred and seventy (870) of the new cases were discovered among male patients, whereas 624 were female patients.

The oldest new patient is aged 98 years old, whereas the youngest is a 10-month old infant.

Nairobi produced 414 of the new infections, followed by Nakuru (188), Mombasa (173), Kiambu (150), Uasin Gishu (107), Turkana (52), Kilifi (50), Garissa (35), Taita Taveta (35) and Kajiado with 31 cases wrapping up the ten most-affected counties.

Kenya also recorded 12 new deaths, pushing the country’s death toll to 1,051.

On a positive note, 586 patients were declared healed, pushing the total number of recoveries to 38,381. Four hundred and thirteen (413) of the newly-healed patients were under home-based care, whereas 173 had been admitted to different hospitals across Kenya.

The shocking figures come on the day President Uhuru Kenyatta addressed the nation, citing October as the “worst-hit month” by COVID-19 pandemic.

The Head of State, consequently, announced new measures to curb the surge in COVID-19 infections in Kenya.
