Kenya Railways suspends commuter service in Nairobi

The Kenya Railways has suspended commuter train services in Nairobi, effective December 21, 2023 to January 2, 2024.

In a statement, Kenya Railways said the affected routes include train services to Ruiru, Embakasi Village, Limuru, Lukenya and Syokimau.

"We wish to inform customers that: The Nairobi Commuter Rail Services to Ruiru, Embakasi Village, Limuru, Lukenya and Syokimau will be suspended from 21st December 2023 till 2nd January 2024," the agency stated.

However, the link train operating between Nairobi Central Railway Station and Nairobi Terminus serving Madaraka Express Passenger Service customers will remain operational.

Other train services which will remain operational include the Nanyuki Safari train, the Kisumu Safari train, the Suswa Leisure train and the Madaraka Express Passenger Service train.

"The below services will be available throughout the holiday period: the Link train operating between Nairobi Central Railway station and Nairobi Terminus serving Madaraka Express Passenger Service customers, the Nanyuki Safari train, the Kisumu Safari train, the Suswa Leisure train and the Madaraka Express Passenger Service train. We take this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones a happy festive season," Kenya Railways added.
