Kenya Railways Corporation has announced that passengers can now travel at night starting Friday, June 10, 2022.

This comes after the entity introduced night trains in a move to ease travel between Nairobi and Kisumu.

Through a notice shared via their official Twitter account, Kenya Railways stated that trains will depart every Friday and Sunday from 6.30 pm and arrive at their destinations at 6.30 am.

"The Kisumu Safari train will make the trips every Friday leaving the Nairobi Central Station at 1830 hrs and arrive in Kisumu at 0630 hrs,

"The return trip will be every Sunday with the train departing the New Kisumu Station at 1830 hrs and arrive in Nairobi at 0635 hrs." the notice reads in parts.

Kenya Railways announce prices

To travel from Nairobi to Kisumu, one will part with Ksh600 while passengers travelling between Nairobi and Nakuru will pay Ksh300.

Those travelling from Nakuru to Kisumu will pay Ksh400 whereas those travelling in first-class will part with Ksh2,000.

The services will be offered every Friday and Sunday.

The introduction of the night train is expected to boost the movement of passengers and cargo destined for neighbouring countries.

The Nairobi-Kisumu service was introduced on December 17 last year after a 10-year break due to rehabilitation works of the Nakuru-Kisumu meter-gauge railway line.
