Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced a temporary shutdown of the prepaid vending system for essential maintenance.

The company has outlined a scheduled maintenance period that will affect customers' ability to purchase electricity tokens using prepaid Paybill number 888880 or Airtel Money.

The maintenance window is set to commence on September 9th, 2023, at 11:50 PM, and conclude on September 10th, 2023, at 5:00 AM.

During this time, consumers will not be able to buy electricity tokens through the aforementioned payment methods.

"Our prepaid vending system will be temporarily unavailable due to essential maintenance from Saturday, September 9th, 2023, at 11:50 PM to Sunday, September 10th, 2023, at 5:00 AM," the KPLC official notice read in part.

This maintenance procedure, while necessary, may result in temporary inconveniences for KPLC's customers who rely on the token prepaid vending system for their electricity needs.

KPLC has expressed their apologies for any disruption caused to their valued customers.

"We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to our customers."
