Robinson Simiyu Wanjala from Murang'a High is the KCSE 2020 top candidate with an aggregate of 87.334 points (A plain).

Simuyu who wants to study medicine at the University of Nairobi had always been a bright student and his teachers believed in him.

Prior to sitting his exam, Simiyu is said to have received a post-dated cheque of KSh50,000 from the school's deputy principal.

The cheque issued as an incentive would then be his award if he topped the country and indeed he did it.

Robinson was closely followed by Wasonga Allan Udoma from Agoro Sare High School and Sharon Chepngeno Terer from Kenya High School.

This year a total of 839 candidates scored A plain compared to 627 recorded in 2019.

Education CS noted that students this year fought hard despite the negative effects of COVID-19 and the results prove that.

“Their battle was fought with resilience and worn with grace,” Magoha said at Mitihani House in Nairobi.
