A police officer’s refusal to board a vehicle transporting Science KCPE exam to Kandomba Primary School in Mukororia Sub-Location, Mbeere Sub-County in Embu County caused a 40-minute delay in taking of the test.

The exam began at 9:10am on Tuesday, March 23 instead of the scheduled starting time of 8:30am.

Police Constable John Murithi, who had been tasked with manning the exam papers, refused to board a bus ferrying the tests “for no apparent reason”, police said.

“This resulted in the exam being taken to the neighbouring exam centre, Mukororia Primary School, where they were stored until the arrival of Murithi’s replacement,” said a police report filed at the Kiambere Police Station on Tuesday.

Shortly after the second cop provided security during transportation of the exams to Kandomba Primary School, Constable Murithi “resurfaced at the school when the tests were almost starting at 9:10am”.

“Disciplinary action will be taken against the said-police officer,” the report said.
