Judges and magistrates drawn from the coast region, have donated foodstuffs to the hunger-stricken families in Kilifi.

The judicial officers under the umbrella of The Kenya Magistrates and Judges Association (KMJA) PWANI CHAPTER conducted the exercise yesterday at Kauma Sub County, Kilifi County.

The union's chairperson, Justice Addraya Dena said that the initiative was their way of giving justice "a human face" by sharing with the less fortunate in society.

"The Judges and Magistrates managed to raise funds to support those within their area of jurisdiction who have been hit hard by the prevailing drought we further bought fertilizer and seedlings," Justice Adan said.

Over 312 families from the Kauma location Vinagoni and Mdangarani sub- locations and Jaribuni Location received the donations

"The residents had requested through the national government that they be considered by giving them seeds and fertilizer during the planting season, however, we saw it wise to extend our hands by providing foodstuffs due to the biting hunger," she said

The residents expressed gratitude, saying they were touched by the judicial officers' kind gesture to donate food and interact with them.
