Karen MCA David Mberia is set to serve three years in jail or in the alternative pay a fine of Sh700,000 for taking a bribe of Sh1.7 million from a private school owner.
The sentence was handed out by Nairobi Chief Magistrate Thomas Nyioki who found the Nairobi MCA guilty of the offense beyond a reasonable doubt.
Mberia and his co-accused MCAs, who were acquitted, were accused of soliciting and receiving the money from a private school owner, Maina Kiragu, to help solve a land dispute.
