Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu is set to officially release the results of the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) on Thursday morning.

A total of 1.4 million students took the KCPE exams, marking the final cohort of Class Eight pupils to undertake the examination under the 8-4-4 system.

Notably, these KCPE pupils will be the last group to have their secondary school placements determined by their exam results, as the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) is set to introduce a different approach for placing students in senior schools based on their career paths.

To access the 2023 KCPE results, the Ministry of Education has provided various methods, including checking through SMS and online platforms.

Checking the KCPE results via SMS

  • Open a blank text message on whatever SIM card you are using
  • Type your full 11-digit KCPE number followed by the word KCPE, for example, 50167345023KCPE. Do not leave spaces in the index number and the word KCPE.
  • Send to the KNEC SMS number 40054
  • You will receive a text message from KNEC with your results after a short while. The SMS will cost Ksh25 per message sent across all networks.

Checking 2023 KCPE results online

  1. Visit the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) portal.
  2. Click on the KCPE Results tab.
  3. Select the year of the exam (2023).
