The father to one of the Kamiti Prison terror escapees has spoken following the re-arrest of his son.

In a televised Saturday, November 20 report on Citizen TV, Patrick Odhiambo, the father of Joseph Juma Odhiambo alias Yusuf has urged the government to extend his son's jail term.

Speaking in Ejinja, Matungu constituency, Odhiambo's father said he demolished his son's house which stood in his compound after the terror convict changed his religion to Islam.

"For what he has done, let the government add him more time in jail so that when he leaves prison, he finds me dead and along buried," he said.

According to Odhiambo's family, the 30-year-old was a humble and soft spoken young man whose life took a turn for the worst after he changed religion and fell pray to indoctrination.

"From class six till class eight he used to grow vegetables and earn a living out of it," Florence Odhiambo, the mother to Odhiambo said.

Odhiambo was arrested on Thursday, November 18 alongside Musharaf Abdalla Akhulunga also known as Shukri and Mohamed Ali Abikar after they escaped from Kamiti Maximum Prison.

Detectives believe that they were on their way to Somalia before they were nabbed inside a house in Kitui town.

The three escaped from Kamiti Maximum Prison on the night of November 14, 2021, and barely three days later, President Uhuru Kenyatta fired Prisons boss Wycliffe Ogallo as investigations into their escape continues.
