The mother of one of the Kamiti Prison terror escapees has asked for forgiveness on behalf of her son.

Speaking in Kibira, Nairobi county, Florence Odhiambo, the mother of Joseph Juma Odhiambo alias Yusuf asked members of the public to forgive her son and his fellow escapees.

"I am asking for forgiveness on behalf of those boys. Please forgive them for what they have done. They did not know the consequences of their actions, may God forgive them," she said while raising her hands in supplication.

Speaking in a televised report by Citizen TV on Saturday, November 20, Odhiambo's mother said her son was a humble young man adding that he even worked as a guard in South C after she asked her boss to get him a job.

“From class six till class eight he used to grow vegetables and earn a living out of it,” Florence Odhiambo, the mother to Odhiambo said.

According to Odhiambo’s family, the 30-year-old was a humble and soft spoken young man whose life took a turn for the worst after he changed religion and fell pray to indoctrination.

In a separate statement, Patrick Odhiambo, the father of the terror suspect is said to have disowned him and demolished his house after Odhiambo changed religion.

“For what he has done, let the government add him more time in jail so that when he leaves prison, he finds me dead and along buried,” the father said.

A father of two, Odhiambo was raised in Ejinja, Matungu Constituency, Kakamega county before attending Makhwala Primary School.
