Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has announced the government's initiative to provide immediate relief to families affected by the ongoing heavy rains.

Speaking on Friday, November 10 at Harambee House Annex, Gachagua noted that the government in collaboration with various ministries had devised ways to save Kenyans from the havoc and reinforce ongoing response activities.

"Through a multi-agency approach, we have instituted various ways to save the lives of Kenyans and property in the context of the heavy rains being experienced in the country. On Friday at Harambee House Annex, I chaired a meeting bringing together respective Ministries, State Agencies and Departments, local and international partners, to assess the current situation and tighten ongoing response activities," Gachagua stated.

The second in command emphasized collaborative efforts between partners, counties, and crucial agencies to bring relief to families grappling with the impact of the heavy rains.

He observed that the National Emergency Response Committee is overseeing these initiatives to ensure a unified and effective approach, avoiding redundant responses and ensuring that every place and individual is accounted for.

"The National Emergency Response Committee is coordinating a consolidated approach for efficiency and effective action. This is preventing duplication of the response as well as ensuring no place or person is left behind," Gachagua noted

The effort is a broader strategy aimed at preventing the loss of lives and livelihoods during this difficult period.

"As we call for more support from our development partners and the private sector, we will deploy all the necessary resources to avert the loss of lives and livelihoods," Gachagua added.

The Deputy President emphasized the need for working together and coordinating efforts to tackle the crisis.

He recognized the valuable contributions of both local and international partners in ensuring a response that is effective and has a meaningful impact.
