Police in Githurai Kimbo in Ruiru, Kiambu County on Monday night (August 26) arrested a middle-aged man for allegedly engaging in indecent acts with four underage boys.

The suspect, Ayubu Muthaura, is said to have developed a habit of luring the boys aged between 12 and 14 into a private room, where he “teaches them how to masturbate”.

It is suspected Ayubu was in the process of preparing the boys mentally for defilement.

Investigations by police revealed that, on diverse dates in April 2019, Ayubu allegedly asked the boys to masturbate as he watched. In other incidents, the suspect, who works as a cook in one of the NGOs in Nairobi, is said to have inappropriately touched the minors’ private parts.

Ayubu, who also owns a shop in Githurai Kimbo, is said to have enticed the boys with money, sweets and paying for them swimming sessions at a commercial pool in Ruiru.

A parent of one of the four boys noticed a strange change in her son’s behavior, and upon interrogating him, the boy spilled the beans.

The boy said that Ayubu often gives them Ksh300 to share among themselves after every masturbation session.

Another parent said he had suspected his son was engaging in something unusual with the suspect. His attempts at getting his child to lift the lid bore no fruit until recently when the boy’s teacher called and informed him about the suspect’s arrest.

Ayubu was arraigned at the Ruiru Law Court on Tuesday, August 27, where the Prosecution pleaded for more time to detain the suspect as they gather more evidence against him.

The Prosecution’s request was allowed.

Ayubu is married and has children.
