A 28-year-old epileptic man drowned in river Itimbogo while washing clothes. The spot where he drowned is located in Embu East Sub-county.

Justin Mukundi Nyaga, who hails from Thau village, has been living with the epileptic condition since his childhood.

He had gone to the river to wash his clothes when he experienced the attack.

A witness, Esther Mukami, who identified Justin's body, said she was going to fetch water when she spotted a floating object with features akin to those of a human body.

While confirming the incident, Kagaari South location Chief Daniel Ndwiga termed the incident very unfortunate.

He urged residents who have people suffering from epileptic disease to avoid sending or engaging them in areas of risk.

"This is a very unfortunate incident and he may not have died if he was in an area which is not risky to his life because he is epileptic," Ndwiga said.

Justin's body has since been moved to Tenri Ena Hospital mortuary pending postmortem.
