The Deputy Inspector General of Police Edward Mbugua has called upon all officers to ensure that they embrace professionalism as they discharge their mandate.

Speaking during a pass-out parade rehearsal for the direct entry of Cadet Inspectorate Course in Kiganjo, he also asked officers to obey the law.

Mbugua said that the National Police Service was committed to ensuring that it safeguards, defends and protects the lives and properties of all Kenyans.

While reminding the Cadets of the numerous reforms that the service is now under the new constitutional dispensation, the DIG referred to the Cadets as ‘products of a reformed police’.

The parade rehearsal was in preparation for the graduation ceremony of officers which is scheduled to take place on January 20, 2022.

His sentiment comes at a time when the National Police Service has witnessed an increase in the number of suicides among its officers.
