A police officer on Tuesday, February 1, committed suicide within police line at Kwhisero Station in Kakamega County.

Dismus Makokha attached to the station committed suicide by hanging himself using a nylon rope that was tied on a metallic door.

The matter was reported on Tuesday morning by two police officers identified as Police Constables Kuli Kimanzi and Christopher Wafula.

The two said they noticed their colleague who usually wakes up early in the morning had not gotten out of his house within Judiciary quarters, opposite the station.

“Upon knocking the door, they noticed that it was locked from inside and they peeped through the window and saw the body of the deceased attached to the station hanging on a nylon rope,” the report read in part.

A contingent of officers visited the scene of crime which was processed by an officer identified as Olando.

“The body had no visible injuries and no suicide note was recovered from the scene of crime,” the report further read.

On questioning his neighbours and colleagues, it emerged that the officer was last seen on Monday, January 31 evening while he was heading to his house.

Police said that the body of the deceased had been removed from the scene of crime and taken to Sonak Hospital morgue.

“The body has been removed to Sonak Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy,” the report added.
