Chinese national arrested with 20 litres of petrol in Bunge Towers

A 28-year-old Chinese national was arrested on Wednesday, January 10, 2023, after he was found in possession of 20 litres of petrol at Bunge Towers in Nairobi.

The foreigner identified as Wu Yulin is a project manager at the construction site.

Police are seeking answers from the suspect on the purpose of the highly flammable substance.

“One Foreigner namely Wu Yulin a Chinese Citizen aged 28 years who is a project manager for the Construction of the new Bunge Towers was arrested with 20 litres of petrol against sections 126 and 127 of the petrol Act 2019,” the police said in a report.

Yulin told the police that he acquired the petrol to help his team in the removal of unwanted paint stains on the walls of the tower.

Elsewhere, police in Kayole, Nairobi, have launched investigations into the death of a prisoner who is reported to have committed suicide using his shirt.

The middle-aged man identified as Richard Kioko is reported to have been booked into the cells on December 30, 2022, over the murder.

According to a police report seen by K24 Digital, before ending his life Kioko was being held in a separate cell after he turned violent to his cellmate.

The inmate is said to have hung himself on the grills of the ventilation of the cell using his own shirt.

“The OCS visited the scene and it was established that the Prisoner Richard Kioko had been taken to a separate cell after turning violent to his inmate. It was then that he committed he hanged himself on the ventilation grills of the cell using his shirt,” the Police report seen by K24 Digital read in Part.

Police are yet to establish the motive for the deceased's actions.

The body of the deceased was moved to City mortuary pending autopsy.
