The widow of former Ainabkoi Member of Parliament (MP) William Chepkut has accused the family of her late husband of blocking her children and locking her out of the burial preparations.

Milcah Samoei claims that her sister and brothers-in-law have been intimidating her.

Samoei and her son, Nicholas Chepkut also noted that they were experiencing fights with their father’s family. He claims they have been denied the right to give the former MP a befitting send-off.

I am not recognized by the family… I have experienced a lot of fighting with my husband’s siblings especially Daniel Kiprotich, Milka Chepkorir, and James Kiptoo. When we got married he had nothing, we started building ourselves from scratch by acquiring one property after another yet now I am not allowed to access my husband's property,” she said on Saturday.

Locked out of matrimonial home

The widow also revealed that every time she visited their matrimonial home in Eldoret, her late husband’s siblings called the police to lock her up.

“We have other properties like hotel Marriot which we acquired together, every time I go there, they call police from Langas to lock me up and release me after some days. It is hard to leave such life," she stated.

She says she was in a monogamous Christian marriage with the late having wedded in 1998.

On his part, Nicholas, Chepkut’s son stated that his dad's last wish was for him and his brother to further their studies.

“My dad championed for education yet his siblings..my uncles are battling the interest of my father and locking us out from burial preparations,” he said.

The widow’s lawyers Danstan Omari and Paul Macharia said they will be moving to court on Monday to stop the burial which is slated for Tuesday.

“The body leaves Lee Funeral Home on Monday, this is so that our client does not have time to argue her case in court,” said Omari.
