Mother's Day, celebrated across the world every May 14, is a special day set aside to honour motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society.
Earlier, President William Ruto, in his Mother's Day message, said he salutes all mothers for their labours of love which "keeps us going and the world moving".
He urged society to take care of mothers to increase the love and deepen the bonds that hold families together.
"We have a sacred duty to do everything possible to lighten the burden borne by mothers, to increase the love and deepen the bonds that hold the family together as the fundamental unit of society.
"We make this world a better place whenever we put a smile on a mother's face and the longer we keep it there, the closer we are to sustainable development," the Head of State said.
He added: "Each one of us is born of a mother. Let us, therefore, give honour to motherhood by making life, work, health and family better for mothers everywhere."
