School unrest leading to destruction of property was reported at Matiliku police station in Makueni County following students' riots in Matiliku Boys' High School.

In a police report, the commotion is believed to have been kicked off by Form 2 students on Sunday night at around 8:00 pm.

The incident resulted in students pelting, smashing and shattering windowpanes of two classrooms (whose value is yet to be established) in protest against severe disciplinary action being subjected by the school administration.

"It was established that windowpanes of two classrooms were shattered and the value is yet to be established as the damage was extensive. The motive of the unrest is believed to be as a result of students' complaining against severe disciplinary action being subjected by the school administration," part of the statement read.

The matter was reported by the school's Deputy Principal who sought authority's assistance to help contain the situation.

The report further indicated that an unknown number of students ran away during the fracas.
