Bundi family: Court orders the two children who survived grisly accident be allowed back in their parents home

Tononoka Children's court in Mombasa has issued orders for two minors who survived a grisly road accident, that claimed the lives of their parents and three siblings, to be allowed to return to their parents' house in Kisimani.

Ronald Bundi, his wife Veronica Bundi and three of their children died in a road accident on December 26, 2021.

Principal magistrate Viola Yator who certified the matter as urgent ordered for the return of Michael Bundi, aged 10, alongside his younger brother Venarnt Bundi, aged 3, to return to their parent's home in Kisimani under the care of their maternal aunty Harriet Gesare.

"Upon reading the applicants notice of motion, the application dated January 18 together with the annexures therein, the application is certified as urgent, and that pending the hearing and determination of this application the applicant herein and the two minor to return to their parents home forthwith," Yator ordered.

The magistrate further issued orders to the children's department and police to supervise the execution of the orders.

In the application, the minors' aunty Gesare has been listed as the petitioner while the respondent has been listed as Dennis Nyamweno.

In her application(Gesare ) had informed the court that the two minors remain to suffer as they have since been discharged from hospital but have no place to go since their parents' house remains locked by Nyamweno.

Nyamweno is yet to file his response on claims being leveled against him.

The Principal Magistrate further directed that the matter be mentioned on January 26 this year to confirm compliance and file a hearing date for the main application.

Bundi 43, was traveling to his Kisii rural home with his wife and five children in the family car, a Subaru legacy, when he collided head-on with another car coming from the opposite direction at the Mackinnon area on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway.
