Bomet: 38-year-old w***n gang-raped, killed, body dumped at maize plantation

Residents in Sotik, Bomet county are still in shock after the body of a 38-year-old woman was found dumped in a maize plantation.

Francis Ng'ang'a the area police commander confirmed the incident noting that the woman's body was found dumped on the outskirts of Tembwo trading centre.

Ng'ang'a claims that the woman who was a casual worker within Tembwo trading centre may have been gang-raped before being strangled to death.

The area chief Saphina Cheruiyot stated that police recovered a shopping bag carrying a piece of meat, tomatoes and some money at the crime scene.

Residents told police that the mother of four was last seen accompanied by an unidentified man.

The body of the deceased was moved to a nearby morgue pending a post morterm.

Separate incident

Elsewhere in Kiobegi area, Kisii county, police are holding a man who allegedly killed his two children aged 10 months and two and a half years.

In the unfortunate incident, the bodies of the children were found dumped at a maize farm.

The bodies had deep cuts on the heads, police suspect they were hacked with a machete. Kipkemboi stated that neighbours claimed that the suspect had mental health issues.

The said neighbours noted that the suspect had even been admitted to a mental health hospital two months ago.

"We even conducted a fundraiser for his treatment at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital," Wilfred Nyamweya, an area resident told police.

The suspect was arrested and is currently under police custody pending arraignment.
