The body of a 27-year-old man from Lugari, Kakamega County was on Thursday morning (February 20) retrieved from Murgus River, three months after he was reported missing.

Peter Indalu, a resident of Lumakanda Township, went missing on November 14, 2019, his father, Fredrick Amata, told K24 Digital.

Amata said efforts to trace Indalu were futile, and the family had given up hope of finding him alive.

It is believed Indalu drowned in Murgus River as he was crossing while drunk.

The deceased’s father says though Indalu’s face had been disfigured, they managed to identify him based on the pair of shorts he was wearing on the day he went missing.

Indalu’s body was covered in sand, and it was a sand-harvester, who was working in the river, who spotted the deceased.

Indalu’s family say they suspect no foul play in his death, and are urging police to allow them bury their loved one.
