A Nyeri court, on Friday, found Kiandemi sub-location assistant chief Paul Gachiri has a case to answer over the theft of two dogs belonging to a bishop.

Gachiri allegedly stoled the Terrier breed dogs back in December 2016. The court documents say that the animals are worth Ksh300,000.

Gachiri reportedly stole the dogs from Nairobi-based televangelist Thomas Wahome of Helicopter Church.

The accused had, however, previously denied the charges and was released on a cash bail of Ksh100,000 or a bond of Ksh 200,000.

The administrator claimed that he did not steal the dogs as claimed but had bought them from Wahome's mother, Antonia Njambi in 2013.

Othaya Principal Magistrate Monicah Munyendo, however, noted that the prosecution had proven their case and Gachiri had a case to answer.

The court also noted that the accused will also be charged for handling stolen property.
